Small Miracles

I just saw a miracle in a small package. It was a ladybug on the outside of our kitchen window, fifteen floors above the street. IMAGINE! A LADYBUG WAY UP THERE!
I was delighted to see it. Where did it come from? How did it get up there? To me it was breathtaking, to think of that tiny little insect with the familiar half-spherical shape and a red coat coming up so far above the earth. And where was it going? What if our apartment was only a stop on its way to the twentieth floor? Or the moon? The world we live in is truly amazing.
I envy the entomologists, seismologists, and everybody else whose life work is to study some facet of all this, to put a little piece of God's handiwork under the microscope or telescope or spectroscope and examine its richness, its fascinating complexity, and its place in the whole of creation.
I'm only a minister. But I get to study things too––people's lives and how they live them, what makes them feel bad or good, how they relate to other people and the world in general.
Sometimes I forget to thank God for the privilege. Little ladybug, thanks for reminding me! |

every minute of every day is an opportunity for each one of us to examine God's handywork if so choose to do. The world is a carousel of opprotunites to revel in all the incredible opportunites tHat God affords us. Sad that we constantly need to be reiminded to stop adn smell teh roses rather then have that be an automatic response to the infinite wonder of teh world in which we live.
